Residents of Fort Howard received a letter from the Postmaster of the Fort Howard Post Office stating that all mail deliveries will be made with Centralized Mail Delivery starting Tuesday, Oct. 31.

Cluster Box Units (CBU) will be installed at Fort Howard Veterans Park, 9115 North Point Road.

According to the letter, the delivery compartment is large enough for magazines and small packages and lockers will be provided for large items that don’t fit into the CBUs.

This will prevent Fort Howard residents from driving eight miles to the Dundalk Post office to retrieve mail.

The letter also confirmed that the Fort Howard Post Office will close official close on Oct. 31 after a long dispute over a lease. The Post Office was set to close on Friday. Sept. 15 due to a termination of its current lease. An extension was made that temporarily keep the post office open for 30 days.

Residents will be able to retrieve their mail at the post office until the 31st and the postmaster will provide each Fort Howard resident keys for the cluster boxes.

Retailer services ended on Oct. 14 and retail transactions are available at Freedom Drug at 7568 North Point Road in Edgemere and at the Dundalk Post Office, 44 Shipping Place in Dundalk.
