Marks Gives Update on Mohrs Lane Bridge in Middle River

Councilman David Marks gave an update on the Mohrs Lane Bridge project, which has been closed since 2007. Mohrs Lane was a one lane bridge that connected Philadelphia Road to Pulaski Highway in Middle River.

“The Mohrs Lane bridge has been a very challenging project, largely due to wetlands and the need to work with CSX. I reported last fall that construction was set to finally begin this year – here is an update from the Baltimore County Department Of Public Works,” Marks.

Here is a statement from Baltimore County Department Of Public Works

“Yes this is a very long term project. We met internally last week to work through the property acquisition logistics and have a path forward with a plan to advertise Construction at the end of April 2023.

The project was 95% designed when CSX Railroad reviewed and had issues with the drainage design (not the bridge design), this has required a redesign on drainage. CSX will not allow any stormwater drainage to cross their tracks/enter their property. The new design reroutes the stormwater and requires additional property acquisition. Plans are being finalized and Real-Estate Plats being prepared so property acquisition can move forward.”<

  1. Looking forward to Mohr’s Lane Bridge to open. Hoping plans include widening and connecting to Rt. 7 at major intersection.

  2. Now they a rehab facility is being built on Middle River Road at Philadelphia Road, we need Mohrs Lane to reopen. This will deter traffic from Middle River Rd.

I hope the issues can be resolved to accomplish this. The traffic on Middle River Rd is horrible and getting worse.
