Middle River station to receive funding for new building

District 7A Delegates Kathy Szeliga and Ryan Nawrocki sent the following release that Middle River Volunteer Fire & Rescue Company will receive funding to construct a new station.

Delegates Kathy Szeliga and Ryan Nawrocki are pleased to announce the approval of $9 million in funding, appropriated by Congress, to support the Middle River Volunteer Fire & Rescue Company in constructing a new station, thereby strengthening emergency response capabilities in eastern Baltimore County.

On January 23, Congressman Andy Harris, M.D. announced the passage of his appropriations request in the FY26 Transportation Bill, which included $9 million for the Middle River Volunteer Fire & Rescue Company.

“We are grateful for the work of Congressman Andy Harris to deliver monumental funding to the Middle River community,” said Delegate Kathy Szeliga.

“This grant for a new station will go a long way toward making Middle River safer by bringing modern infrastructure and innovation that will allow our brave first responders to protect us in times of need.”

Delegate Ryan Nawrocki added, “Working with federal leaders like Congressman Andy Harris has delivered meaningful support to Middle River, and we cannot thank him enough for his efforts. As a proud Middle River resident, I know firsthand the important role the Company holds in our community. These brave first responders who protect Middle River families and businesses will now have the facilities and resources necessary to respond quickly, safely, and effectively.”

The Middle River Volunteer Fire & Rescue Company plays a vital role in protecting and strengthening the greater Middle River community.

For generations, these dedicated men and women have answered the call, day and night, responding to fires, medical emergencies, vehicle accidents, water rescues, and natural disasters with professionalism and courage.

Delegates Szeliga and Nawrocki emphasized that this funding is part of a broader commitment to strengthening volunteer fire and rescue infrastructure across District 7.

They will continue working closely with federal, state, and local partners to strengthen and support volunteer companies across the region — including Bowleys Quarters, White Marsh, Long Green, and Jacksonville — because ensuring that every community in eastern Baltimore County is protected by strong, well-equipped volunteer fire and EMS services remains a top priority.
