Chapel Hill Elementary School held a celebration on Friday, May 3 as the Perry Hall school was named a national Blue Ribbon School.
The ceremony was attended by local officials including School Board Member Julie Henn.
“Fifteen years ago, and long before joining the Board, I became a Chapel Hill parent. Those in the school community have always known what a special place it is. I could not be happier for the students, administrators, teachers, and staff to receive national recognition for their hard work and dedication. We are all so proud,” Henn said.
“Thank you to Principal Nancy Hill, Assistant Principal Julie Mintiens, and all who made today such a beautiful event.”
The Department of Education announced Chapel Hill was one of four Maryland school named Blue Ribbon School in September.
Councilman David Marks attended Chapel Hill and was proud to return to the school for their ceremony.
“Congratulations to Perry Hall’s Chapel Hill Elementary School, which dedicated its Blue Ribbon seal today. As a former student who was enrolled here from first to fifth grades, it was particularly satisfying to join everyone at this ceremony,” Marks said.
Approximately 180 Maryland public schools have achieved National Blue Ribbon honors. The program began in 1982
“Achieving Blue Ribbon status is no easy feat, it’s a testament to the hard work, dedication, and partnership of the educators, students, and parents who make this school so special,” Delegate Ryan Nawrocki added.
