County reached agreement to transfer Perry Hall Mansion to nonprofit

Baltimore County Councilman David Marks announced  that an agreement has been reached to transfer ownership of the historic Perry Hall Mansion to the Preservation Alliance of Baltimore County.

Baltimore County Government will transfer the mansion it has owned since 2001.  During that time, the county made structural repairs and added a heating and air conditioning system to the property.

The transfer will include a $250,000 grant, as well as approximately $93,000 collected by the Perry Hall Recreation Council.

“Baltimore County made important repairs to the mansion, but a nonprofit can more easily coordinate donations than Baltimore County Government, as the construction of Angel Park proved,” Councilman Marks commented.

“The goal is to stabilize and restore the restoration.”

The signing of contracts occurred at the Historic Courthouse on Monday afternoon.  County Executive Kathy Klausmeier, officials from Baltimore County Government, the Woman’s Club of Perry Hall, the Perry Hall Improvement Association, and the Preservation Alliance of Baltimore County were present.

“The Preservation Alliance of Baltimore County is proud to support this project that will showcase the importance of protecting our most important historic landmarks,” commented Bryan Fischer, chair of the Alliance.

The contract will go before the Baltimore County Council on November 16.
