Benstorming-Salling and Jennings endorse Hale for Governor

Many say that the Republican Gubernatorial primary is wide open between 2022 nominee Dan Cox, business man Ed Hale and John Myrick.

But Hale took a significant step this week when he received endorsements from three state senators, including local state Senators Johnny Ray Salling (6th District) and J.B. Jennings (7th District).

“I am honored to have received the endorsements of Senator [Jack] Bailey (of Southern Maryland), Senator Jennings, and Senator Salling. These are respected leaders who understand the challenges facing Maryland families and businesses. I look forward to working alongside them to restore affordability and prosperity to all Marylanders,” Hale wrote on Tuesday.

“These early endorsements mark a key milestone for our campaign, signaling growing momentum and unity among Republican leadership across the state.”

Salling wrote on social media that he is proud to support Hale.

“I do endorse my friend and the next Governor of Maryland Ed Hale Sr. He will lead in a way that will make a difference for our State. He is a true leader and will make the better decision for Businesses and you the people of the Great State of Maryland.”

Jones picks up key County Executive endorsements

Baltimore County Executive candidate Julian Jones announced that he was picking up two key endorsements.

Many were expecting a Democratic Congressman, a U.S. Senator or a Democratic mayor of County Executive from another jurisdiction, but he announced endorsements from Baltimore County State’s Attorney Scott Shellenberger and Baltimore City State’s Attorney Ivan Bates.

This was just as big – if not bigger- than Nick Stewart picking up an endorsement from the Police union.

Both Shellenberger and Bates are considered “old school” and “tough on crime” Democrats. At a time where Democrats have been called “soft on crime” and “pro criminal”, Shellenberger and Bates’ endorsements could help Jones.
