(Senator Carl Jackson (District 8) and Delegate Ryan Nawrocki (District 7A) will hold a bipartisan press conference to announce legislation submitted for the 2026 Maryland General Assembly session to strengthen accountability and transparency within Baltimore County Public Schools (BCPS).
The proposed bill directly responds to a resolution passed earlier this fall by the Baltimore County Council, which requested state authority to expand the Office of the Inspector General’s jurisdiction to include oversight of BCPS.
The legislation introduced by Senator Jackson and Delegate Nawrocki grants the County Council the authority they requested.
The press conference will outline the goals, scope, and bipartisan support behind the legislation and provide updates on enhancing oversight, accountability, and public trust in Baltimore County Public Schools by empowering the Baltimore County Council to expand the jurisdiction of the Office of the Inspector General.
