Baltimore County Public Schools announced they are closing on Friday. They are also pushing back the end of the marking period.
“Due to forecasted inclement weather, Baltimore County public schools and offices will be closed tomorrow, Friday, January 19, 2024. “Essential” employees report on time for their assigned shift or may request from the appropriate supervisor to use leave time.
“Essential as Needed” employees report to work as directed or may request from the appropriate supervisor to use leave time. All evening activities involving BCPS students and staff are canceled. In addition, all community-sponsored programs in BCPS buildings are canceled.
“We have made the decision to close schools because January 19 was scheduled as a 3-hour early release day for students for teacher grading and reporting and given that forecasts are calling for the snowstorm to begin early tomorrow morning, it is not possible to have a delayed opening and early release on the same day.
“Due to the closure, the last day of the marking period will move to Tuesday, January 23, 2024, and the distribution of report cards will be delayed by one week to February 5, 2024. Report cards will be posted in Focus at 4 p.m. on Feb. 5.
“A decision regarding weekend athletic events, practices and other activities will be made by Friday evening.”
