David Arowolo, a Grade 10 student at Eastern Technical High School, has been elected the 2025-26 National Student Council president.
His selection was announced on May 5 by the National Association of Student Councils (NASC).
In addition to his role as National Student Council president, Arowolo, who studies interactive media and production at Eastern Tech, serves as a National Youth Council Member of UNICEF USA, treasurer of the Maryland Association of Student Councils, and digital media specialist for Baltimore County Student Councils.
Last month, he completed a term as a Student Advisory Team member for PBS News Student Reporting Labs. Last summer, he served as a delegate at the ACLU National Advocacy Institute in Washington, D.C.
Arowolo has been active in student leadership since Grade 5 when he ran for his elementary school’s student council.
Since then, he has served in multiple roles in Baltimore County Junior Council, Baltimore County Student Councils, and the Maryland Association of Student Councils.
“I am incredibly proud of David for being elected as the National Student Council president,” said Stacey Wade, regional advisor of Baltimore County Student Councils.
“Watching him grow through our middle and high school executive board has been inspiring. He has continually invested in his own leadership development and has become a powerful example of what it means to lead with purpose. David is a bright light in our council as a student workshop coordinator – uplifting others, encouraging students to pursue their own potential, and championing involvement in student advocacy. His passion and dedication have made a lasting impact on our BCPS community.”
