Kingsville Elementary named Maryland Blue Ribbon school

Governor Wes Moore announced that Kingsville Elementary, along with Fort Garrison and Seventh District elementary schools, was among 23 schools statewide to be named 2026-2027 Maryland Blue Ribbon Schools.

The award recognizes schools for their academic performance on national and state assessments and for progress in closing achievement gaps among student groups.

The Maryland Blue Ribbon Schools Award program is administered by the Maryland State Department of Education in collaboration with
the Archdiocese of Baltimore and the Archdiocese of Washington.

“Fort Garrison, Kingsville, and Seventh District elementary schools are so deserving of this award, and we are so proud of all the hard work and support that has gone into making these schools premier  elementary school programs in Baltimore County,” said BCPS Superintendent Dr. William Heiser.

“Congratulations to Principal Sara Solter at Fort Garrison, Principal Matt Winaker at Kingsville, Principal Heather Denmyer at Seventh District, and all the students, staff, families, and communities that make these schools so special. This recognition is a result of your diligence, partnerships, and commitment to
advancing excellence for all students.”

The 2026 cohort of Blue Ribbon Schools includes 12 Maryland public schools, six Archdiocese of Baltimore schools, and five Archdiocese of Washington schools.

This year’s cohort is an increase from the seven schools honored last year, demonstrating the growing impact of the state’s work to improve academic outcomes throughout the state.

The 2026-2027 Maryland Blue Ribbon schools will be formally honored at the Maryland State Board of Education meeting on Tuesday, December 8, and during the General Assembly legislative session next spring.

Schools will also receive a Maryland Blue Ribbon School banner, flag and award citation.
