Baltimore County Councilman David Marks has nominated longtime former educator Tricia Sokolowski to serve on the Advisory Committee on Public School Capacity.
The committee is a nine-member panel created to advise county officials, the School Superintendent, and the Baltimore County Board of Education on ways to monitor and prevent public school overcrowding.
Councilman Marks was the deciding vote to override the County Executive’s veto and pass the legislation that established this panel.
Ms. Sokolowski taught fourth grade at Joppa View and Honeygo Elementary Schools before her retirement in 2025.
She will replace Charlene Behnke, who resigned upon taking the position of Executive Director of the Council of Administrative and Supervisory Employees.
“For the Fifth District representative’s seat on this council, I wanted to pick a longtime former educator who will advocate for better planning and for the interests of our students and teachers,” Councilman Marks commented.
“I thank Councilman Marks for his support of our public schools, and look very much to participating on this important panel,” Ms. Sokolowski added.
