SHAPE Maryland, a professional organization of health and physical education teachers,
selected four Baltimore County Public Schools educators as recipients of its Simon A. McNeely Award.
The honored BCPS educators, all physical education teachers. Shawn Ketterer of Norwood Elementary School was one of the recipients.
To be eligible for the Simon A. McNeely Award, a nominee must demonstrate outstanding teaching and service in health or physical education; pioneering innovations in health, physical education, recreation, or dance through teaching and service; active membership in SHAPE Maryland or a relevant professional organization; participation in local, county, or regional workshops and conferences over the past three years; engagement in school and community affairs, particularly those related to health and/or physical education; and a minimum of 5 years of professional experience in the field.
