Dundalk’s defense shuts down Parkville in 12-6 win

The Dundalk Owl defense was playing lights out and the stadium literally went lights out in a 12-6 victory over Parkville on Friday.

Parkville’s defense was also strong throughout the game, but Dundalk final figured out how to score on the Parkville defense in the final two and a half minutes of the game. Owl quarterback Matthew Jones connected with Logan Alderson on a 47-yard touchdown pass for the go-ahead touchdown.

The Knights put together a drive in the final minute when freshman quarterback Demim Gilbert completed a 30-yard pass to Donte Wheeler to get into Dundalk territory but there was a delay as the lights went out at Dundalk’s stadium.

Parkville didn’t score an offensive touchdown the whole game but jumped out to a 6-0 lead when Knights cornerback Solomon Obayemi returned an interception 30 yards for a touchdown.

Parkville had other opportunities but couldn’t score as Roderick Galloway and Jamaree Frazier had interceptions for Dundalk.

The Owls didn’t get their offense going late in the second quarter until Kamrin Briscoe’s punt return to the Parkville 11 that set up a Rashaad Brown 1-yard touchdown run.

Dundalk had multiple red zone trips in the third quarter with Qamar Wise and a strong running game, but didn’t score. Knight defenders Pierre Moore and Aiden George made a stop on fourth down near the goal line.

The Owls also blocked a Parkville punt inside the red zone, but the Knights recovered a fumble to retain possession.

One of the interesting spots of the game (in addition to the stadium going dark) was when Alderson attempted a 51-yard field goal in the third quarter. The ball fell short in the end zone.
