Eastern Tech scores 14 runs in late innings to beat Dundalk 21-7

Eastern Tech left fielder Nina Morales used her glove and bat to help defeat Dundalk-

Eastern Tech softball was clinging to a 7-6 lead over Dundalk on Monday and then scored 14 runs in the final three innings to win 21-7 on the road.

After trailing 2-1 in the top of the second inning, Nina Morales hit a two-RBI double and later scored to put the Mavericks up 5-2.

Eastern Tech added two more runs in the top of the third to extend the lead to 7-2.

Dundalk stayed around and came right back with a rally in the bottom of the third to cut the deficit to 7-6.

Brooke Jones and Kaitlynn Brooks reached base and both scored runs.

Owl shortstop Makayla Woods  doubled in a run and scored in the first inning.  She at the plate with the bases loaded in the third inning and hit a deep shot to left field, but Morales tracked down the ball to end the inning and changed the momentum of the game.

Morales came back the next half inning to triple in two runs and scored on an error.

Kayla Foster also helped put the game away with a two-run base hit in the fifth inning and tripled in two more runs in the top of the sixth.

Maverick centerfield Mady Forster had four hits and scored three runs on the afternoon.

Eastern Tech improves to 4-8 and plays at Sparrows Point on Wednesday. Dundalk falls to 2-8 and travels to play Towson on Wednesday.
