Longtime Overlea High Coach Retiring After 38 Years

Longtime Overlea coach Bruce Malinowski is retiring after 38 years. Malinowski has been at Overlea High for 31 years where he was the athletic director, wrestling, football, cross country and lacrosse coach at the school.

“There are two things I will miss the first is the student athletes the second are my fellow teachers and especially the coaches” Malinowski told Eastcountytimes.com

Malinowski is a 1979 graduate of Kenwood High where he was a wrestling star. He was part of the inaugural
Hall of Fame class at Kenwood in 2007.

Even though he is retiring, Malinowski still plans on officiating wrestling and lacrosse.

Malinowski was recognized with a House Resolution from Delegate Carl Jackson.

“Today, I had the incredible opportunity to celebrate and present Bruce Malinowski with a House Resolution for his retirement after 38 years of service as a teacher, coach, and mentor in the Baltimore County Public School system,” Jackson wrote on Friday.

“Coach Malinowski was a coach while I attended Overlea High School and I can say firsthand what an incredible educator he is. I was so glad to be able to celebrate such a great career with him today. Congratulations on a well-deserved retirement, Coach!”
