It was a local public school vs. private school battle as Mount Carmel hosted Dundalk on Thursday.
Mount Carmel was too much for the Owl as they won 48-8.
The Cougars jumped out to a 20-0 lead with the help of Jahleel Grant two touchdowns and Kyren Harris defense and special teams plsy
Harris set up a Grant 2-yard touchdown run after he returned a punt to the Dundalk three-yard line.
Harris added an interception on defense that set up a Chace Rohal 14- yard touchdown run.
The Cougars also received a Grant touchdown pass to Thomas Jones for six yards.
Down 20-0 late in the second quarter, Dundalk senior quarterback Logan Alderson and the Owls started to make a run.
Alderson connected with Damari Moore on an 88-yard touchdown pass with 2:02 left in the first half to cut the deficit to 20-7.
Dundalk’s defense came right back with a huge third down sack by Jameek Mobley and Darryl Reid.
Then a botched snap on the Mount Carmel attempted punt gave Dundalk the ball at the Mount Carmel 34.
The Owls appeared to be on the verge on scoring before the half but Senior Christian Lambert came up with an interception to end the half for the Cougars.
Mount Carmel Junior Jamauri Miller returned an interception for a 27-yard touchdown to end any hope of a Dundalk comeback.
Mount Carmel is now 3-0. Dundalk falls to 0-2 and opens up Baltimore County play at home against Overlea on Friday.
