Perry Hall Girls Soccer came back from a 2-1 deficit in the final minutes to tie the game and won it in overtime against Bethesda-Chevy Chase for the 4A State Title.
Katelyn Price scored the goal to send the game into overtime with 3:21 left in the second half. Gabriela Colon scored the game-winning two minutes into overtime for the 3-2 win. Both goals were assisted by Reese Pinnell.
Perry Hall was trying to tie the game after Bethesda-Chevy Chase had a 2-1 lead in the second half.
The Gators had opportunities but couldn’t score. Gabrielle Richberg almost scored for her team after a corner kick but just missed the net.
It appeared Perry Hall had its best chance to score around the seven minute remaining mark when a Bethesda-Chevy Chase player was called with a hand ball.
That setup a penalty kick by Pinnell but she kicked the ball too high and it hit the crossbar. Pinnell made up for it with 3:19 left in the game when her deep pass set up Price’s goal.
Gator goalie Joyce Robinson allowed a goal before the half and early in the second half, but made key saves late in the game.
Robinson made a tough save under eight minutes and snatched away a free kick with 90 seconds in regulation to preserve the tie.
Perry Hall wins their third state title in eight years and wins their first since going back-to-back in 2018 & 2019.
