Perry Hall High Football Falls in State Semifinals

Perry Hall High Football season came to an end last night as the team fell to North Point High School out of Southern Maryland 34-6 in the 4A/3A state semifinals.

North Point was dominant on the ground as they had over 325 rushing and kept the Perry Hall offense out of endzone. The Gator’s lone touchdown came from their defense.

North Point’s quaterback only had one completion in the first half but the Charles County school was up 21-0 at halftime as their offense had 150 rushing yards with three touchdowns.

The Gator’s defense kept them in game as senior captain Corey Costner made a touchdown saving tackle and fellow senior captain Justin Ashe recovered a fumble a few plays later to end a North Point drive.

In the second half, linebacker De’Sean Spicer recovered a fumble for 50-yard touchdown to get Gators on the scoreboard.

Perry Hall was still down 27-6 but their defense forced two punts after the turnover.

It appeared the momentum was starting to turn as the Gator offense was able to move the ball. Quaterback Terrell Hearn started to connect with passes to Costner and Jalil Frazier but couldn’t put the ball in the endzone.

One drive was ended with a Perry Hall fumble. Another drive took Perry Hall to the North Point 14 yard line but two bad snaps resulted in a turnover on downs.

The Perry Hall offense couldn’t sustain a consistent running game and as the North Point defense was strong on short yardage.

Near the end of the first quarter, running back Cameron Scott broke off a 9-yard run to set up a 2nd and 1 but the Gators couldn’t pick up that extra yard on the next three downs.

North Point took over at the Perry Hall 29-yard line and later scored a touchdown.

Perry Hall ends their season at 9-3.
