Sparrows Point football wasted little time on Friday as they jumped out to a 21-0 lead over Central (Prince George’s County) in their 2A/1A Semifinal playoff game.
Point advanced to the State Quarterfinals win a 34-6 win.
Quarterback Maceo Hardnett led his team with two touchdown passes to Chase Carnahan for 12 yards and to Paxton Clark for 15 yards.
Running back Mikey Maynor broke off a 12-yard touchdown run in the first quarter and added a one-yard touchdown later in the game.
Sparrows Point’s defense forced three turnovers.
The Pointers’ special teams got in on the fun and blocked a Central punt near the goaline. Zach Stansburge recovered it for a touchdown
The Pointers were seeded second statewide in the 2A/1A playoffs but have been reseeded number one going into the State Quarterfinals one after regular season top seeded Calvert was upset in their second round game.
Sparrows Point host Henry E Lackey High School out of Charles County this Friday.
If Sparrows Point wins, they will host the winner of Hereford-Middletown in the state semifinals

One team that Sparrows Point could play in the 2A/1A Championship Game is Dunbar. They destroyed Chesapeake 68-0.
Perry Hall 21 Dulaney 2
After trailing Dulaney 2-0, Perry Hall quarterback Joey Albrecht threw two touchdowns and ran for another to led the Gators to the victory.
Perry Hall advances to the 4A/3A State Quarterfinals and will play at Oxon Hill on Saturday at 1 p.m.
