State and local governments say they are ready for Monday’s weather event.
The Maryland Department of Transportation State Highway Administration is prepared for a winter storm that is forecasted to affect much of the state beginning Sunday evening. Crews have pretreated state-maintained roads and storm managers are closely monitoring the timing of the storm.
Baltimore County Government said its Department of Public Works and Transportation, Baltimore County Emergency Management, and Property Management are prepared for this storm as a nearly-500-person crew is pretreating 8,800+ County roadways and de-icing operations in full effect and 90,000 tons of salt available for use around the County.
County residents are advised to stay home and off of the roads if possible.
Residents can stay up-to-date with new information by following Baltimore County Emergency Management and signing up for emergency alerts.
Baltimore County government will be closed due to expected inclement weather. Baltimore County Schools are also closed on Monday.
“The safety of our residents and employees is a top priority, and we made the choice to close Baltimore County government tomorrow in an abundance of caution,” said Acting Baltimore County Executive D’Andrea L. Walker. “We encourage everyone who can to remain at home. However, if you must travel, please exercise caution, stay vigilant, and give road crews the necessary space to carry out their work safely and effectively.”
Emergency and essential employees must report on time.
There will be no trash or recycling collection on Monday, and all drop-off centers will be closed. Additionally, Towson Loop and CountyRide service will not operate and all branches of the Baltimore County Public Library will be closed.
Baltimore County Recreation and Parks facilities will be closed to the public and programs canceled. Senior Centers will also be closed.
County freezing weather shelters will be operational and due to the expected sustained low temperatures will remain open throughout the day on Monday.
