The Baltimore County Police Department, alongside community leaders and residents, proudly unveiled a sign this morning over Honeygo Boulevard in memory of Baltimore County Police Officer Amy Sorrells Caprio, who was killed in the line of duty on May 21, 2018.
“This sign stands as a tribute to Amy’s selfless service and her enduring legacy in the community,” said Police Chief Robert O. McCullough. “It is a promise to remember, to reflect, and to honor Amy’s sacrifice, as well as those made by each of our fallen heroes here in Baltimore County.”
The sign was mounted onto the overpass of Honeygo Run Regional Park.
The unveiling ceremony was attended by Officer Caprio’s family, friends, colleagues, and local officials.
“Officer Amy Caprio epitomized heroism. While Perry Hall has grown over the past half-century, we still have a small town feel, and the murder of this officer who patrolled our streets and schools hit very hard,” Councilman David Marks said of Officer Caprio.
“Today, Baltimore County named the bridge at Honeygo Boulevard in her honor. Perry Hall and Baltimore County are eternally grateful for Officer Caprio and all who protect our neighborhoods and families.”
Del Carl Jackson said he was happy to attend the event that honored the fallen officer.
“It was a true celebration of Officer Amy Caprio’s life today as Baltimore County dedicated the bridge crossing over Honeygo Boulevard in her honor. Both of her parents were there to witness the outpouring of support from the community and it was an absolute privilege to stand beside them as we made the dedication<" Jackson said. "Officer Caprio will forever be remembered and I have no doubt that her example will inspire future generations to serve their communities."
