Baltimore County Police reported a police officer rescued a dog from a Dundalk rooftop in Turners Station on Tuesday.

Officers responded to the 300 Block of Pine Street in Turners Station after receiving reports of a dog stranded on the rooftop of a two-story townhouse and unable to safely get down.

Officers on the scene spoke with a neighboring resident, who allowed them into their home so police could access a second-floor rear window and climb onto the rooftop.

According to the report, Officer A. Flores reached the top of the row of houses,  sat down and was able to calmly persuade the dog to come to her.

After the dog was safely secured, members of the Fire Department responded to the scene to assist Officer Flores and the dog safely off the roof.

Police believe the dog likely exited its residence through an upstairs window that had been left open.

Once on the roof, the dog was unable to safely return home due to the steep pitch of the structure.

The dog will remain in the care of Animal Services until its owner can be located.
