The Perry Hall community celebrated the opening of the renovated historic Perry Hall School at 9317 Belair Road, on Aug. 22, which will now be United Hearts Adult Medical Daycare.
Built in 1928, the school originally housed six classrooms to serve the growing Perry Hall community. The building was later used as an “annex” in the 1970s to address school overcrowding. It then served as a community center and the Gribbin Center from 1987 until the early 2020s.
In 2025, Councilman David Marks worked with the owners and the Preservation Alliance of Baltimore Coimyu to have the property added to the inventory of historic properties in Baltimore County.
“I would like to thank the Kraus family, Julian Brown, and United Hearts for believing in this building and investing in its future,” Councilman Marks commented. “Thank you to the historic preservation community and the Perry Hall Improvement Association for partnering with the community.”
Councilman Marks was joined by Senator Carl Jackson and Delegates Harry Bhandari, Ryan Nawrocki and Kathy Szeliga at the ribbon-cutting ceremony, along with dozens of residents and supporters of the business. Several former students also attended.
“Congratulations to the entire United Hearts team! We’re excited to have you as part of our community and wish you many years of success,” Jackson said.
