The three-day International Longshoremen’s Association strike has come to end – for now.
The union and the United States Maritime Alliance came to a short-agreement to end the dispute and will try to work on a long-term agreement between now and Jan. 15
The announcement was welcome news by the Port of Baltimore.
“We congratulate the International Longshoremen’s Association and the United States Maritime Alliance on reaching a tentative agreement and avoiding an extended work stoppage,” the Maryland Port Administration said in a statement.
“When strikes occur, even for a short time, the impacts are significant. The port industry is one of our nation’s leading job generators and is critically important to our national supply chain. We’re delighted to have the Port of Baltimore working again.”
