Baltimore County Executive Kathy Klausmeier and the Department of Recreation and Parks announced that the County-owned indoor pools in Dundalk and Randallstown will reopen in October, offering open swim, discounted monthly memberships and daily admission during an initial pilot period.
The Dundalk pool will host an open house on Saturday, October 10, before reopening Wednesday, October 14. The Randallstown pool will host an open house on Saturday, October 17, before reopening Monday, October 19. The pilot period will run through at least the end of 2026 as Recreation and Parks develops additional programming, including water fitness classes.
Both open houses will take place from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Attendees can swim, sign up for memberships and learn about the aquatics pilot program.
“We heard clearly from residents that they want these pools open, affordable and available to their communities,” said Baltimore County Executive Kathy Klausmeier.
“We’re proud to reopen both pools this month with discounted memberships and hours that reflect feedback. We’ll keep listening as we build on these services and develop additional programming.”
The reopening follows an online survey launched in late July that received approximately 800 responses, as well as two public listening sessions held in August.
Residents identified affordability as a primary consideration, with fitness classes and open lap swimming among the most requested activities.
Residents may purchase monthly memberships or pay for daily admission. One monthly membership provides access to both pools.
“Baltimore County residents of all ages deserve amenities that contribute to enhancing their health and quality of life,” said Baltimore County Councilmember Julian Jones.
“I am thrilled to see this pilot aquatics program launch in both Dundalk and Randallstown, which will help preserve vital programming for older residents and expand recreational opportunities for residents and families alike, and I look forward to continued collaboration with the Administration and residents to expand pool access and aquatics countywide.”
“The Dundalk Community Center is an important hub for southeastern Baltimore County, and I am proud to see the Department of Recreation and Parks announce plans for expanded aquatics services,” said Baltimore County Councilmember Todd Crandell.
“After hearing concerns from many residents unsure of its future, I am glad to see the administration taking positive steps and incorporating that same feedback into planning the next chapter of our pool.”
Both facilities feature 25-yard, six-lane indoor pools with depths ranging from four to 10 feet, along with men’s, women’s and family changing facilities.
“We’re excited to work with the Dundalk and Randallstown communities to reopen these pools and develop aquatics programming that meets residents’ needs,” said Department of Recreation and Parks Acting Director Bryan Sheppard.
“We appreciate the leadership and support of County Executive Klausmeier and Councilmembers Julian Jones and Todd Crandell in making this reopening possible.”
