East Gerst Farm to Become Park

Baltimore County Councilman David Marks announced in March 2021 that the County Council voted to purchase 22 acres of land for a new park in Perry Hall.

The land is located east of Gerst Road in Perry Hall’s Honeygo area, between New Gerst Lane and Glenfield Road. The area borders the Glenside Farms neighborhood to the west, and was formerly the site of the Perry Hall Community Hall, owned by the Bierman family.

According to Marks, Baltimore County resumed clearing the invasive species from the new 22-acre park on Gerst Road.

“I was able to halt this work when it started unexpectedly. We assembled a group of residents and were able to get the county to preserve a buffer with the community- but keep in mind that a lot of this area is full of invasive species, and there will be a robust plan for landscaping when the site is developed into an active park,” Marks said

“I am pushing for a community input meeting; there is $100,000 in the money to plan what uses will be at the park. I have said before that, in my opinion, this should not be a Honeygo Park-type setting, but one that is largely passive.”

Marks added that this will be the fifth new park in Perry Hall since 2010.
