Fifth District Councilman David Marks announced that St. Michael Lutheran Church in Perry Hall will receive $82,570 through Baltimore County’s FY 2027 Community Improvement Grant Program to transform an unused parking area into a new, environmentally sustainable community green space.
The grant was awarded to the Gunpowder Valley Conservancy, the nonprofit partner leading the project.
According to the Department of Planning, the initiative will remove 10,000 square feet of deteriorated rear parking and replace it with a permeable, multi‑purpose green space designed to reduce stormwater runoff and alleviate flooding issues along the Belair Road corridor.
This improved space will also create new community value through landscaping, seating, pathways, and environmental enhancements.
“I would like to thank the staff at the Department of Planning, County Executive Klausmeier, and these two groups for developing such an innovative proposal to transform this property,” Councilman Marks commented.
