New Middle School Map Selected for BCPS Board of Education

The Central and Northeast Area Middle School Boundary Study Committee announced they are sending a new map Option E to the BCPS Board of Education for approval.

This map is very similar to Option A that kept most of the current boundaries in place in northeast Baltimore County. Option A had the students around the new Rossville Elementary going to Parkville Middle, but Option E will send those students to the new middle school on King Avenue.

There was concern with some of the maps as the Kingsville area was divided between Perry Hall Middle and Pine Grove Middle schools and the students around Gunpowder Elementary were being moved from Perry Hall to Pine Grove.

Perry Hall Middle School is the most overcrowded middle school in the county at 1643 students.

Option E would reduce that school population by 184 students, which is the same number as Option A.

Fifth District Board of Education member Julie Henn praised the committee’s decision and was appreciative on the adjustment for the Rossville Elementary community.

“The Northeast / Central Middle School Boundary Study Committee voted [Wednesday] (66.7%) to recommend Map Option E to the Board. Map Option E was built off Option A and takes into consideration feedback received from the public survey, including requests from the Rossville Elementary school community,” Henn wrote.
