Sparrows Point, Perry Hall, Kenwood & Dundalk win playoff games

The MPSSAA football playoffs started over the weekend. Dundalk, Kenwood, Sparrows Point and Perry Hall advanced to the second round. Patapsco, Chesapeake, Overlea and Parkville’s season came to an end. Eastern Tech did not particpate in the playoffs.

Dundalk 54 Annapolis 27
Dundalk advanced to the second round after a blowout win over Annapolis. The Owls started off the game with Cameron Myers touchdown pass to Anthony Smith Jr.
Annapolis had a 7 to 6 lead in the closing minutes of the first half, but Owl Quarterback Micah Williams threw a 25-year-old touchdown to Joey Kasprzak to close out the half. Dundalk never looked back.
They will now travel down to Anne Arundel County to play at Broadneck this Friday.

Broadneck 45 Parkville 0
Broadneck advances to the second round after defeating Parkville 45 to 0.

4A-3A

Perry Hall 57 Woodlawn 6
Perry Hall continued to dominate their opponents as they destroyed Woodlawn. The Gators scored on offense, defense and special teams. Running back Noah Williams caught a 47-yard touchdown pass and added a 7-year-touchdown run later in the game. Tyler Green and Jacob Wagner also added touchdown runs.

Perry Hall defender Santana Mendoza recovered a 20-yard fumble for a touchdown and the Gators had an interception return for a touchdown on the last play of the game. The Gators blocked a punt for a safety.

Perry Hall was up 45 to 0 at halftime and Woodlawn did not score into the third quarter.

The Gators will host Towson on Friday night.

Kenwood 18 Digital Harbor 8
Kenwood defeated a Baltimore City school at home and will play against Mervo in the second round but will play this game on the road in Baltimore City.

Bel Air 22 Overlea 0
The Falcons season came to an end on Friday at Bel Air.

New Town 34 Patapsco 6
The Patriots season came to end after a loss to New Town on Saturday.

2A/1A

Sparrows Point 13 Rising Sun 6
Sparrows Point won a defensive battle at home against Rising Sun. The Pointers will be home in the second round against Fallston on Friday.

Elkton 55 Chesapeake 15
The Bayhawks season end at Elkton. In the second round Elkton play at Harford Tech. Sparrows Point would play the winner of that game if they defeat Fallston.
