A husband and wife are trying to get elected in Eastern Baltimore County for two different offices
Dr. Artus Huffman is a Democrat running for the House of Delegates in District 6 (Dundalk, Edgemere, Essex and portions of Rosedale and Middle River). Sharonda Dillard-Huffman is running as a Democrat for Council 8 (Essex and Middle River).

At a time when many voters are frustrated with politics and questioning whether government understands the pressures facing ordinary families, Dr. Artus Huffman and Sharonda Dillard-Huffman are offering a different conversation about public service.
They are husband and wife. They are longtime members of the Eastern Baltimore County community. And in 2026, they are running for two different elected offices with two distinct responsibilities.
Dr. Artus Huffman, Democratic Candidate for Maryland House of Delegates, District 6 is an educator, veteran, father and community leader, Artus brings decades of service to a campaign focused on education, opportunities for young people, veterans, public safety, affordability, and making state government work better for working families.
Sharonda Dillard-Huffman, Democratic Candidate for the newly created Baltimore County Council District 8, has centered her campaign on the everyday concerns she hears from residents: affordability, neighborhood conditions, county services, responsible development, public safety, constituent service, and making sure Eastern Baltimore County receives the attention and resources it deserves.
Two races. Two distinct candidates. One shared commitment
The Huffmans are not running as a political package. Each has an independent campaign, qualifications, priorities, and office they are seeking.
What connects them is something more personal: a shared belief that public service should begin with listening, showing up, and helping make everyday life better for the people government serves.
Their unusual story also opens the door to a larger conversation about politics, marriage, family, service, Black leadership, and the issues shaping communities across Eastern Baltimore County.
