The Baltimore County Board of Elections officially declared all the winners from the June 23 primary now that all the votes have been counted.
The only race in question was the Council District 9 Democratic primary between Arkia Wade and Mark McCluskey.
Wade was winning after Election Day and Early Voting, but she had a slight 11 vote lead after a round of mail-in ballots.
Provisional ballots and all mail-in ballots have been counted and the Board of Elections declared Wade as the winner by 41 votes (1604 to 1563).
“What a roller coaster these past two weeks have been, but I’m so excited that it’s finally official. I am honored to be the Democratic nominee for Baltimore County Council, District 9! Every vote counts literally,” Wade wrote on social media.
“From the bottom of my heart, thank you to everyone who supported, encouraged, volunteered, donated, prayed, knocked doors, made phone calls, put up signs, shared a post, or simply believed in me over these last six months.”
Wade will face Republican Tim Fazenbaker in the General Election.
