Baltimore County Public Schools started its school year for the 108,000 students on Monday.
It was also the first day of school for new BCPS Superintendent Bill Heiser
“I am so proud of how. thoroughly TeamBCPS has prepared for the start of classes and want to thank our staff for the extensive work they did over the summer break to ensure our buses, school buildings, parking lots, fields, tracks, and more are ready for students and staff. I am nine weeks into my new role as superintendent, and I have had the privilege of meeting hundreds of staff, families, and stakeholders,” Heiser said in an email to BCPS families.
“I am energized by our dedicated educators and inspired by the stories and hopes of TeamBCPSstudents, parents/caregivers, and stakeholders. One thing is clear: we are all committed to building on the school system’s strong foundation and advancing excellence together.”
Heiser started the school year by visiting schools throughout the County, including Dundalk Elementary, Bear Creek Elementary and Gen. John Stricker Middle School.
