Baltimore County Councilman David Marks and School Board Member Julie Henn announced that the proposed Fiscal Year 2026 budget includes $27 million to upgrade public schools in the Fifth District, including the chiller replacement at Martin Boulevard Elementary School, and mechanical upgrades at Oliver Beach Elementary School.
All public school classrooms in the Fifth District are now air conditioned, but one need highlighted by many parents is the lack of cooling systems in some interior spaces. The proposed budget allocates $1.8 million to air condition the cafeteria and auditorium at Perry Hall Elementary School.
The budget includes $3 million to advance parking lot improvements at Joppa View Elementary School, currently being designed. The school is notorious for its traffic and parking challenges.
The renovation of the Perry Hall High School track is completely funded thanks to a blend of county and state funding.
“Over the past six years, we have added three new schools to help eliminate much of our overcrowding in eastern Baltimore County,” Councilman Marks stated.
“I am pleased we are now addressing many needs in our existing schools, and I thank County Executive Klausmeier for her support.”
“These capital projects continue the modernization of our aging schools,” added Henn, Fifth District representative to the Board of Education.
