Dundalk AD Named District 6 Athletic Director of the Year

The Maryland State Athletic Directors Association named Tim Scherer of Dundalk High School its 2025 District 6 Athletic Director of the year.

Scherer has been at Dundalk High for seven years.

“I am truly honored and humbled to be selected as the District VI AD of the year. It always feels great to be recognized for the hard work and time we put into our departments,” Scherer told Eastcountytimes.com.

He added he loves the school and said working with students is one of the great things about his job.

Scherer explained Dundalk students are some of the “hardest-working and dedicated athletes” in the county.

“Many of our kids overcome obstacles that I couldn’t have even imagined growing up and to see them be successful in the classroom and on the field is an indescribable feeling,” he added.

According to Scherer, it is a team effort as he thanked the school administration, staff member and his coaches for his success at Dundalk.

I have also been blessed to work with principals Larissa Santos and Paul Satterfield, and a team of assistant principals that have supported me and allowed me to develop as a leader in our building,” he said

“I work with a coaching staff and faculty that are incredibly dedicated to helping our athletes succeed in the classroom and on the field and I am very grateful for their efforts.”

Michael Sye, Baltimore County Public Schools Director of Athletics, said it was a well-deserved honor for the Dundalk High AD.

“Tim is an outstanding Athletic Director who consistently demonstrates a tireless work ethic and a deep commitment to the students he serves. He is a true advocate for our student-athletes, always prioritizing their academic and personal development. His approach to leadership is both student-centered and results-driven. Tim goes above and beyond to ensure that each athlete has the resources, support, and guidance they need to succeed, not just on the field, but in life,” Sye said.

“In addition to his student-focused initiatives, Tim is a champion for our coaches and athletic teams. He works tirelessly to promote their successes, ensuring they receive the recognition they deserve. Tim’s leadership style strikes the perfect balance between support and challenge, motivating those around him to strive for excellence.”
