Parkville improved to 2-0 after a comeback win over Patapsco. Knight quarterback Hannes Lauterbach had a 15-yard touchdown run in the final five minutes for the 21-20 win.

Lauterbach connected with receiver Allen Gillis to give the Knights an early 7-0, but the team had to overcome special team miscues that gave Patapsco a 20-7 lead in the second quarter.

Parkville tried to sneak an onside kick after the Gillis touchdown, but it was recovered by Patriot John Martin. That set up a 22-yard touchdown run by Patapsco quarterback Josh Cornish.

Then Semaj Moyd recovered a Parkville muffed punt for a Patapsco touchdown. Moyd had two fumble recoveries on the day.

On the issuing kickoff, Justin Patterson of the Patriots recovered an unintentional onside kick when the kickoff went high & short and the ball didn’t go out of bounce. Patapsco also sniffed out a fake punt during the quarter.

Parkville finally got a break on special teams when Jayden Cooper returned a kickoff 75 yards for a touchdown.

Lauterbach and his offense were able to move the ball but couldn’t score until the final five minutes. Patapsco’s defense forced four turnovers, including a Dashon Matthews interception before the half. Hunter Malloy and freshman Brandon Diggs had key tackles for the Patriots. Diggs recovered a fumble late in the fourth quarter.

Cornish and the Patapsco offense had a chance in the final minute, but Knight defender Ghermani Kemp broke up a fourth down pass intended for receiver Nick Adkins to give Parkville the win. The Knights defense was also led by Darain Alexander, Try Chaffin, Hadden Uzzell and Tyler Hopp.
