Sparrows Point scored an early goal and held on to a 1-0 win over Perry Hall on Thursday at Honeygo Park.
Defender Bradley Paesch scored the goal midway through the first half with an assistant from Lennon McNamara.

That is all that Sparrows Point needed as Pointer goalie Trevor Gattus and the defense keep Perry Hall out of the net.
Those Pointers defenders included Gavin Goodenough and Artoro Goytizolo.
Gattus had five of his six saves in the second half for Sparrows Point.
The Gators tried to get the offense going with their star player Tommy Sowis. The senior midfielder came close on a few opportunities as his hit in the crossbar and had a few shots just miss over the goal. Arda Gokee also had a few shots on goal.
The Sparrows Point defense focused on Sowis and he was taking to the ground on a few occasions. The Perry Hall fan base was upset on some of those non calls.

Sparrows Point controlled most of the first half but couldn’t put the game away. McNamara got a shot off infront of the Perry Hall goal, but Gator goalie Aiden Gutierrez made a crucial save. Gutierrez had nine saves on the day.

Perry Hall defenders Riley Sawnson and Unish Shrestha helped keep the game one score.
Gutierrez was out of position but Swanson was able to kick a Tyler Kuctha shot of bounces to stop a sure Pointer goal. Owen Peiser also put pressure on the Perry Hall defense.
The Gators had one more chance in the final minutes but couldn’t convert on a corner kick from Sowis.
