Sparrows Point football came back from a 8-point deficit and scored a touchdown in the final 15 seconds to stun Eastern Tech 21-14.
Eastern Tech’s ground game was going strong with running backs David Akinsuroju, Landon Beveridge and Nate Noyes.
Beveridge had a rushing touchdown and threw a half-back option pass to set up the Mavericks first touchdown.
The Mavericks appeared in control of the game and they were leading the Pointers 14-6 with 8:30 left in the fourth quarter.
Then the momentum shifted when Zachary Stansburge recovered a fumble for the Pointers at the Eastern Tech. Sparrows Point’s defense recovered three Tech fumbles on the night.
Stansburge came back on the next Pointers offensive possession and caught a touchdown pass from quarterback Cody Green to tie the game 14-14 with 2:25 left in the game.
Sparrows Point forced a Eastern Tech three and out and punt.
Then Green connected with Chase Carnahan on a 45-yard touchdown pass for a 21-14 Pointer win.
Sparrows Point improves to 4-1 and hands Eastern Tech its first loss of the season (4-1).
