A 91-year-old woman died from injuries sustained during a fire at her Middle River home on Thursday, February 23.
Baltimore County Police investigators identified the victim as Mary A. Cardarelli.
Fire investigators ruled the fire accidental due to improperly handled smoking materials.
Fire crews responded to the hundred block of Slipstream Court in Middle River at 8:16 p.m. for a report of a dwelling fire. Baltimore County Police officers found the victim suffering burn injuries on the front porch and cared for her until EMS arrived.
EMS crews administered life-saving care and transported her to Johns Hopkins-Bayview Burn Center in critical condition. On Feb. 25, the victim succumbed to her injuries.
