Essex & Baltimore County still recovering from weekend storms

Power outages and storm damage continue to be an issue in the area, especially in Essex/ Middle River.

Councilman David Marks reported a damaged pole at the 2100 block of Eastern Avenue near the Geresbeck’s grocery store has caused an estimated 16,000 customers to lose power.

“I have spoken to Delegates Nawrocki and Szeliga and we both have been in touch with our BGE liaisons. I will be touching base with Baltimore County emergency preparedness officials regarding public safety,”  Marks said on social media.

“Repairs to this pole will be a major priority for BGE. I am sorry to be the bearer of bad news.”

The power outage has shut down many traffic lights. Baltimore County

Police reported the following Essex traffic signals are still out of service:
• Eastern Blvd & Virginia Ave
• Eastern Blvd & Marlyn Ave
• Eastern Blvd & Old Eastern Ave
• Eastern Blvd & Selig Ave
• Rt. 702 & Homberg Ave
• Rt. 702 & Mansfield Rd
• Rd. 702 & Middleborough Rd
• Back River Neck Rd & Williams Ave
• Back River Neck Rd & Country Ridge SC
• Back River Neck Rd & Middleborough Rd
• Ramps on Martin Blvd onto Eastern Blvd
• Eastern Blvd & Kingston Rd
• Old Eastern Ave & Harrison Rd.

The outage is expected to last for several hours while BGE completes repairs.

Baltimore County Department of  Public Works and Transportation also reported its crews responded to 118 calls for downed trees in Baltimore County since Saturday evening.

There were still six unresolved cases on Monday with downed tree, which require assistance from BGE to address downed power lines first.

Those roads include:
• 803 Nicodemus Road in Reisterstown
• Reisterstown Road and Delight Road in Reisterstown
• Greenspring Avenue & Garrison Forest Road in Owings Mills
• 7605 Mt. Vista Road in Kingsville
• 4315 Shore Road in Sparrows Point
• 6317 Deer Park Road in Reisterstown
