Middle River Icon Ronnie “Daddy Kool” Alder, Sr. Passes Away

Middle River has lost a key member of its community as the Heritage Society of Essex and Middle River, Inc. has reported Ronnie “Daddy Kool” Alder, Sr. has passed away.

According to his obituary from Connelly Funeral Home of Essex, “Daddy Kool” was 80 and a U.S. Army Veteran.

He was known for his volunteer work in the community. His UFO was a popular attraction in his Aero Acres community. “Daddy Kool” also provided financial assistance to various Veteran’s groups and made appearances at Essex Day and at the Heritage Society’s museum.

The Heritage Society of Essex and Middle River released a statement about Mr. Alder’s passing.

“The Heritage Society is deeply saddened by the loss of one of our Lifetime Members, Ronnie “Daddy Kool” Alder, Sr. An Army Veteran, Ronnie was a selfless man who loved God, his family and his country. Ronnie was always willing to help friends and strangers alike, and he was a joy to have around. The Museum and the entire Essex/Middle River community has lost a true icon. Rest in peace, Ronnie. You will be greatly missed.”

A funeral service will be held at the Connelly funeral Home of Essex, 300 Mace Avenue on Thursday, May 25 at 10 a.m. Visiting hours will be held on Wednesday, May 24 from 2 – 4, and 6 – 8 p.m. Interment at Holly Hill Memorial Gardens.
