High School Basketball Playoffs Start Friday

The Maryland Public Secondary Schools Athletic Association (MPSSAA) will start their boys and girls basketball playoffs on Friday.
Here is a look at the three classifications that involve local schools.

4A Boys
Parkville was undefeated during the regular season before losing in the Baltimore County Championship Game to New Town.

Despite that loss, the Knights can still get back to the state semifinals. They are the number one seed in their region.

Parkville gets a bye and will host the winner of 5 Catonsville and 4 Perry Hall on Tuesday. The Gators host that game at home on Friday at 6:30 p.m.

Dundalk is the other local team in that region at 6. They will play at 3 Mervo in a rematch of a football championship game in 2021.

4A Girls
No girls team received a bye in 4A. 4 Perry Hall host 5 Mervo, 6 Dundalk is at 3 Catonsville and 7 Parkville is at 2 Dulaney.

3A Boys
There are only two teams in eastern Baltimore County for 3A and they both play each other and 3 Kenwood will host 6 Patapsco on Friday night at 4 p.m.

3A Girls
5 Kenwood plays at 4 Edgewood and 7 Patapsco plays at 2 Bel Air. Both games are scheduled for Friday at 5 p.m.

2A Boys
This region offers two first round matchups with local teams as 4 Chesapeake host 5 Eastern Tech on Friday at 7 p.m. The winner plays 1 Overlea on Monday at 7 p.m.

There is a slim possibility that all eastern Baltimore County teams could meet in the regional final as 6 Sparrows Point could meet Overlea -Chesapeake/Eastern Tech. The Pointers will have to win at 3 Dunbar on Friday first.

2A Girls
Eastern Tech is the number one seed in the region with a bye and will host the winner of 5 Overlea-4 Dunbar. There is another matchup of local teams as 3 Sparrows Point host 6 Chesapeake.
