BCPS Begins Search for New Superintendent

BCPS is looking for a new leader after Dr. Darryl L. Williams said he will not return as BCPS Superintendent.

The Board of Education of Baltimore County (Board) has selected McPherson and Jacobson LLC, to assist in the national search for his replacement.

McPherson and Jacobson LLC, was chosen from among six search firms that responded to the
Board’s request for proposals in January, following Williams’ announcement.

The Board unanimously approved a contract for $150,000 with McPherson and Jacobson, during its February 28 meeting.

“McPherson and Jacobson, has 22 years of experience and has participated in more than 330 superintendent searches, many for large and diverse districts like ours,” said Jane Lichter, chair of the Board of Education.

“They have the knowledge and experience to help us attract a strong, diverse, and highly-qualified pool of candidates and to fully engage the Team BCPS community in the search process.”

The Board will be meeting with McPherson and Jacobson, to develop a work plan for the
search, including the nature and extent of community involvement and engagement.

A superintendent search website will be created soon and will serve as a hub for information
related to the search, including important dates and milestones.

The Board is committed to a transparent and efficient search process and engaging with Team
BCPS staff, students, and community to find the best candidate to lead the district in its effort to raise the bar, close gaps and prepare students for their future.
