Parkville Boys Basketball Advances; Overlea Season Ends

Parkville Boys Basketball is back in the 4A State Semifinals after a 59 to 49 home win over Duval in the state quarterfinals.

Overlea’s season came to an end with a home loss to Largo 76 to 72.

The Knights are back in their third straight semifinals. They lost to Eleanor Roosevelt High School in 2022. Parkville made it to the state semifinals in 2020 but the basketball season ended when the COVID pandemic began. There was no playoff in 2021.

According to Colby Giacubeno of Colby G Scouting, the Knights were led by junior Sincere Barfield 15 points. Parkville also received help from their seniors as Favor Okigweh had 14 points and Tre Worsley had 12 points.

According to MPSSAA, Parkville is looking for their first trip to the state finals since 1974 but they must get past Gaithersburg on Wednesday, March 8.
