The Kent County Board of Education named Sparrows Point Middle School principal Dr. Mary Boswell-McComas as their new superintendent of Kent County Public Schools.
McComas’ first official day will be July 1. She takes the lead of the system’s five schools from retiring Superintendent Dr. Karen Couch, who was the leader for Kent County Public Schools since 2013.
“I am humbled and honored to be selected to serve our children and young adults in Kent County. I am excited and look forward to the collaborative partnership with the Board of Education and the entire community of Kent County,” McComas said. “Together we will discover and generate new opportunities for the next generation of Kent County leaders, inventors, creators and artists. I believe in us!”
McComas was only at Sparrows Point Middle for one year. She sent a letter to the SPMS community,
“It has been an absolute honor and privilege to serve as Principal of Sparrows Point Middle School this year. As I reflect on our work together, I can truly say my time here has been full of so many blessing,” McComas wrote.
“Our students have grown and matured this year and together we have created a strong partnership to support their success. There are not enough words to fully express my deepest gratitude and appreciation to our staff, students and families!”
Eric Eiswert has been named new principal at Sparrows Point Middle School.
