Patapsco football is off to their first 5-0 start since 2007 after a 7 to 0 win over Chesapeake on Saturday.

The Patriots came into this game undefeated last year against the Bayhawks but Chesapeake pulled off the upset at home 14 to 13. Patapsco had five turnovers in the 2021 game as Chesapeake had four fumble recoveries and an interception.

“We just didn’t play good enough,” Patapsco coach Tyler Clough said about the 2021 game against Chesapeake.

“This year our message all off-season was being 1 point better. We lost two of our three games last year by only one point and we had to get one point better.”

This year the Bayhawks or the weather could stop Patapsco from remaining undefeated.

Patriot running back Noah Cornish had 140 yards on 30 carries. Cornish had the lone touchdown of the game on a 13-yard run.

Patapsco’s defense recorded their third shutout of the season. Senior Eric Olsen had 7 tackles (two for a loss) and a fumble recovery.

Linebacker Kevin Batchelor was in the Bayhawks backfield all game as he had four sacks and four tackles for a loss.

“We played an ugly sloppy game on Saturday against Chesapeake. We only scored one time and we had the ball in the redzone five times and just didn’t finish drives,” Clough told the eastcountytimes.com about his team’s performance.

“At the end of the day all wins count the same and I’ll take a 7-0 win over a loss anytime.”
