The Parkville Boys Basketball team finally made it to the 4A State Finals after a 71 to 58 win over Gaithersburg at Wise High School on Wednesday.

This is the Knights first appearance in the state title since 1974 and the team is still looking for its state championship in school history. The Knights will play Meade at Xfinity Center College Park at 8 p.m. on Saturday.

Parkville improves too 26-1 on the year. The team’s only loss of the year was in the Baltimore County Championship to New Town 61 to 53.

Parkville finally advanced out of the state semifinals round. Their season was ended by Eleanor Roosevelt High School in 2022 and there was no basketball tournament in 2021 because of the COVID pandemic

Many believe that the 2019-20 Parkville Boys team might have won the state title in 2020 but the season was officially over as the COVID pandemic began around the same time as the state semifinals. The tournament was delayed and eventually cancelled.
